Lambda sonda - pro nebo proti?
Tento graf představuje čtyřválcový motor. Poměr vzduch/palivo je 14,7 - 1 přičemž CO je nastaven na 0,5%, Lambda = 1. Aby mohl motor správně fungovat, musí být do každého válce přivedeno zcela přesné množství vzduchu, úplně stejná jiskra a zcela přesné množství paliva.
Problém se zhoršuje.
Motor běží nerovnoměrně a spotřebuje více paliva, ale hodnoty z lambda sondy jsou správné. Jelikož lambda sonda měří pouze průměr ze všech 4 válců, začne technik hledat problém někde jinde.
Poškození lambda sondy, ucpání výfuku z katalyzátoru
Motor běží nerovnoměrně, "střílí do výfuku", nemá tah a spotřebuje více paliva. Reakce lambda sondy se zpomalují z důvodu pokrytí přebytečným množstvím nespáleného paliva a výfuk z
katalyzátoru se pomalu ucpává. Přesto jsou hodnoty z lambda sondy správné.
Dobré a špatné vstřikovače před použitím lambda sondy

Po použití lambda sondy jsou všechny vstřikovače špatné
Po použití lambda sondy máme nyní čtyři špatné vstřikovače. Lambda sonda není schopna určit
jednotlivé válce a provede nastavení všech čtyř válců za účelem kompenzace dvou špatných válců. Technik není schopen vyřešit tento problém bez toho, aniž by vstřikovače zkontroloval.
